Music Mondays criteria include… being music.
Anytime The Piano Guys release a new album, I buy it as soon as possible (I pre-ordered this one.) A friend recommended these guys to me a couple years back, saying (in his words) that they “had the ability to take two crummy pieces of music and make them awesome.”
I have to agree with that assessment.
For those of you who don’t know who The Piano Guys are, they are a chello/piano group that turns well known (or sometimes less well known) pieces of music into their own creations. They’ve created song mixtures such as “Titanium/Pavane,” “Beethoven’s 5 Secrets,” (a combination of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and “Secrets” by OneRepublic,) and “Let It Snow/Winter Wonderland.” They’ve also done versions of “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Just the Way You Are,” among others.
This particular album has several wonderful pieces included on it. If you buy the Deluxe Edition (like I did,) it includes most of the music videos as well. I think it’s worth the extra few dollars (I believe it’s 9.99 vs 13.99) to include the videos.
This album includes “Story of My Life” (originally by One Direction,) “Pictures at an Exhibition” (Excerpt from Promenade, originally composed by Modest Mussorgsky,) “Let It Go” (a mixture of Vivaldi’s “Seasons” and “Let It Go” from Frozen,) and “Batman Evolution,” among others. “Batman Evolution” is, hands-down, one of the coolest pieces on here. It features music from the 60s live-action Batman TV show, the 1989 movie, and the more recent Dark Knight trilogy. Plus, the video has all three of the Batmobiles. (Sadly, the video isn’t available on iTunes. You can watch it on YouTube, however.)
Even if you aren’t into classical music, I still recommend giving these guys a try. Look them up on YouTube and watch a few videos. I (almost) guarantee you’ll like their version of Let It Go, their Charlie Brown Medley, or even their Lord of the Rings mix.
The Piano Guys Wonders releases on October 7th. It’s available through The Piano Guy’s website, iTunes, and Amazon.
