Today is typically known as Star Wars day by fans everywhere, due to the title pun. It usually results in lots of Star Wars parties, movie marathons, and occasionally some cosplay. I’m a movie marathon person – I’m currently taking a quick break between episodes 2 and 4 – I don’t own episode 3 for some reason, and I forgot to rent it this year. I also dressed up my two stuffed bears (named William and Anne) as Darth Vader and a Jedi, and they are watching with me.
The original Star Wars, (episode 4 for those of you not around then,) starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, was released in 1977, making 2017 it’s 40th anniversary. (Maybe we’ll get to celebrate with episode 8?)
Since then, five more movies, episodes 5, 6, (released in 1980 and 1983, respectively,) and 1-3 (released in 1999, 2002, and 2005,) have been released. Episode 7 is slated for release December 18th, 2015.
I’ll probably post a general overview of the Star Wars films at some point, maybe on the 6th. (AKA, Revenge of the Sixth. Yeah, Star Wars fans are a interestingly creative bunch.)
I know this wasn’t a typical post, but I’m a huge Star Wars fan, so I had to do it. Looking forward to maybe making more of these types of anniversary/(slightly geeky) culture style posts in the future.
